JUNE
This month has been filled with small but meaningful experiences that reminded me that personal and spiritual growth often happens through ordinary moments from every day living, nothing extravagant, just moments in everyone’s life. Whether it was making a change to my appearance or building a collection of books that I hope to preserve for years to come, each experience encouraged me to think more intentionally about my walk with God. I have been reminded that following the Lord is not only about the big decisions in life but also about honoring Him in the everyday choices I make. As I continue striving to keep His commandments and grow in wisdom, I am thankful for the opportunities He has given me to reflect, learn, and mature.
I got a new hairstyle this month, I really like it. It has made me feel different in a good way of course. I feel more intentional with my look instead of just “letting things grow”. It’s surprising how much a hairstyle can affect the way you carry yourself, almost like it changes your personality.
This experience reminds me that I should strive to be presentable as someone who represents the King of kings and seeks to keep God’s commandments. While outward appearance is not what saves us, DUH, but taking care of myself can reflect a desire to honor God and present myself well when interacting with others. One challenge was making sure that no razor touched my head because I wanted to be careful not violate the commandment as I understand it. It took extra attention and planning but I was able to communicate exactly what I wanted and stay consistent with conviction.
I believe this change will help me in positions of leadership by allowing me to present myself with greater confidence and professionalism. I hope this will create more opportunities to influence others towards keeping God’s commandments and, over time, contribute to building a nation that more faithful to God’s ways.
Another fun thing that happened this month was attempting to go to my first baseball game as an adult.
We missed it due to rainy season, funny, but a bit sad haha. It was okay though, it was a fun time to bond with the family. At least the outgoing ones haha — but in all seriousness we were kinda bummed out. The funniest thing is that we took a selfie at the stadium and didn’t realize the giant stadium sign said postponed.
These are times that I hope to remember and repeat over and over.
“Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
“Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.”
A recent experience that I have enjoyed was buying both new and older books, especially older bibles. It has been a unique and meaningful experience for me, there is something special about holding a book that has endured through time, reminding me that the truth can be preserved across generations.
I think there I s a biblical connection to valuing old wisdom and faithful preservation. I can only image how the Levites felt as they cared for the scriptures, knowing they had been entrusted with God’s Word. Today, we are so blessed to have the scriptures so widely available that I own several KJV bibles in different sizes. Owning these books reminds me not to take that privilege for granted.
One challenge has been learning how to properly care for older books and bibles. I have learned that prolonged exposure to sunlight can damage them at the ends, that they should be opened carefully to protect the binding, and even removing them from a shelf requires care to avoid unnecessary wear. Taking the time to preserve them has taught me to appreciate the value of the knowledge they contain.
This experience also strengthened a relationship with one of my family members, It gave us something meaningful to talk about, and it made me want to encourage them to develop a form of love for reading as well. I believe spending time with good books can be beneficial not only mentally but also spiritually, especially when those books point us towards God and His truth.
Looking back on this month, I am grateful for the lessons God has taught me through both simple and meaningful experiences. I have learned that even small changes can shape my character, strengthen my convictions, and deepen my appreciation for the blessings He has given me. I want to continue growing in wisdom, presenting myself in a way that honors Christ, and valuing His Word as the greatest treasure I can possess.
As I move into the next month, I look forward to continuing my study of Scripture, expanding my library with books that strengthen my faith and understanding, and seeking new opportunities to serve others. My prayer is that God will continue to continue to mold me into someone who faithfully keeps His commandments and reflects His character in every area of life.
Heavenly Father Son and Holy Spirit, thank You for guiding me throughout this month and for teaching me through both ordinary and extraordinary moments.
I thank you for helping me grow in wisdom, humility, and obedience to Your Word.
Continue to give me strength to faithfully keep Your commandments, the courage to share the Gospel with others, and the discernment to walk in Your truth each day.
May my life bring glory to You in everything I do.
In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
